It’s been a little hectic around my house lately, but I wanted to take the time to wish all of you a wonderful holiday weekend! Here is hoping your Independence Day celebration includes lots of great food, relaxing with family and friends, and good fireworks!  I know I can’t wait for my family’s cookout. I think in addition to red, white, and blue M&M cookies, I’m going to bake some Yankee Doodles, psst… they are just Snickerdoodles with sprinkles, and I’m going to watch the next installment of Stranger Things! Yankee Doodles

Ingredients:

  • 1 & 1/2 cups + 2 tbsp white sugar
  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2  & 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • red, white, and blue sprinkles

 

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Beat 1 1/2 cups white sugar, butter, and eggs together until smooth. Mix in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.

Mix 2 tablespoons white sugar, 2 tbsp of sprinkles and 2 tsp of cinnamon together in a bowl. (Feel free to add more sprinkles if you so desire).

Form dough into balls and roll in the sprinkle/cinnamon/sugar mixture. Place balls, on baking sheet.

Bake for 7-10 minutes.
